A high risk of flooding
On July 14th, 2016, China's Hubei Province, also known as the Province of a Thousand Lakes since there are so many, was affected by a major storm which lasted several days. Heavy rainfall caused a surplus of water in the lakes and rivers of the region. To avoid a flood that could have been catastrophic for the inhabitants and buildings nearby, the soldiers preferred to blast the dike separating Lake Liangzi and Lake Niushan.
