Preoccupied with the humpback whale, the biologist didn’t spot thetiger sharkthat was quickly approaching. Fortunately for her, the whale had noticed the oncoming shark and did what it could to keep her out of the shark’s sights:

Hauser stated. A second whale out of frame was also doing its part to protect the woman from the predator.
The whale that protected her with its fin even went as far as to lift the biologist entirely out of the water:
'It's funny how the tables are turned here: I've spent the past 28 years protecting whales, and in the moment, I didn't even realise that they were protecting me.'More under this adMore under this ad
