Researchers Were Baffled After This Bizarre Sea Monster Washed Up on the Shore

It is quite common on the coasts of the entire planet to find species of animals that are very difficult to catalogue, either because of their strange appearance or because of their poor condition once they were on land.

The latest of these is a strange fish that appeared on Sands Beach, within the natural reserve of Coal Oil Point in California. A fellow from the University of California at Santa Barbara stumbled upon the animal's corpse.

Reserve conservation specialist Jessica Nielsen quickly came to the scene to analyse this strange creature stranded in the sand. Upon arriving and seeing this 2.15-metre specimen, she was speechless.

The first hypothesis was that it could be a moonfish, but many experts denied that possibility. However, after several studies and analyses, they finally found out what kind of fish it was...
