What is 'Summer Penis', a phenomenon caused by heat waves?
More under this adHeat waves have their fair share of side effects, and ‘summer penis’ is one of them. Here is a look at this still little-known phenomenon.
Every summer we get a few heatwaves. There are many tips on how to get through them as easily as possible, and although we are sometimes inundated with these tips, little is said about the side effects that heat waves cause. One is especially important: the summer penis. As you will have understood, it concerns those with the male sexual organ, which tends to become bigger when it is extremely hot out.

Rumors abound
Although it is little talked about, this concept was first named by journalist Tracy Moore in the MEL Magazine in 2018. At that time, she interviewed several urologists who pointed out the existence of the phenomenon. The blood vessels which are influenced by temperature and which make the organ appear more or less important are at issue here.

So explained Orlando urologist Jamin Brahmbhatt, before continuing:
When it's hot outside, your body tries to evacuate heat through perspiration. Also, you're likely to consume more water, which in combination with perspiration will make your body or skin feel puffy. And this may give you the illusion that things are bigger.More under this adMore under this ad
Not a myth
At first, some people had their doubts about summer penis. This is the case with Aaron Spitz, urologist and author of The Penis Book: A Doctor's Complete Guide to the Penis. When asked by The Huffington Post, he said,
My first reaction was, 'My God, here we go again with this obsession with size.'More under this adMore under this ad
But on further reflection,
it makes sense because of the underlying mechanism of expansion and contraction influencing penis size.
The heat ‘increases the relaxation of the blood vessels, which increases the flow of blood into them, filling the penis a little more to make it look longer and fuller.’

Under ideal conditions, in a warm environment and with the appropriate stimulation, assuming that everything is in order at the arterial or neuropathic (nerve damage) level, warm weather will help you achieve maximum filling.More under this adMore under this ad
However, the summer penis will not make your penis grow several inches. Only a slight increase takes place. Hey, every bit helps, right boys?
