It shows that couples will no longer engage in the act of amking love in 2030 - that’s in just ten years time.

To show this, he asked couples between the age of 16 and 64 about their monthly sexual activity. It seems that couples have less sex from year to year. In 1990, the average was about 5 times per month, in 2000, it was 4 and in 2010, it was just 3. In 2030, this number could reach zero.

The problem with fertility

The reason for this is the supposed “hyperconnection” in our society. It fills our private life with screens, series and social networking sites and suppresses our appetite for couples activities. According to the scientist, all this takes up so much time which, in the past, people would have used for their love life.

“We can see people being online all the time simply because they look at their phones permanently… A couple of years ago, the TV would have been turned off at 10:30pm and there would have been nothing to do. […] Today, people have way too little time to (get between the sheets)", Prof. Spiegelhalter commiserates.
