The two brothers signed an emergency evacuation protocol with the police on August 4.
An intervention set for next September
According to the prefecture, the intervention will take place next September. It'll take a month to prepare for it. Because the building is dilapidated, it needs to undergo renovations. Also, the whole operation may involve health risks because of the 'severe fluid overload and edemas Alain suffers from', reports French publication Indépendant. Given that he's been stuck inside his apartment for a while, the slightest amount of movement could put the 52-year-old at risk. Being morbidly obese, Alain will be evacuated on a special stretcher, in a seated position. He will then be taken to a rehabilitation and nutrition centre where he will stay for several months.
