An Illusionist Disappeared During a Magic Trick and Remains to Be Found

Born Chanchal Lahiri, the illusionist, who goes by the name of Jadugar Mandrake, left law enforcement officers in a panic following his—for now—last magic trick.

He was thrown in a river

The magician decided to perform a very dangerous trick. To carry it out, he was completely chained, put inside a cage, and thrown into the Ganges River. He intended to prove that he could set himself free in the blink of an eye.

But it didn't look like it was going to be just another simple magic trick, which was proven by how it ended. None of the spectators who were present could've imagined what would happen.

If I can't, it will be tragic

Before starting this dangerous number, the 40-year-old magician explained that it wasn't the first time and that he had pulled off a similar trick 21 years prior. Mandrake said, although he admitted that, this time, it would be somewhat more difficult:

I was inside a bulletproof glass box tied with chains and locks and dropped down from Howrah bridge. Then I came out within 29 seconds.

He added:

If I can open it up then it will be magic, but if I can’t it will be tragic.

And, based on how things turned out, he was absolutely right.
