The Ford Focus was created as part of Alexander Trotman's Ford 2000 plan which aimed to globalise model development and provide one compact vehicle that could then be sold on a worldwide scale. The original car was designed in 1998 and was designed by teams from Germany and Britain.

As you can see in the video above, after the car collides with the wall at 120mph, practically the entire vehicle is destroyed upon impact and as the narrator also explains, only the back of the car was not completely obliterated by the collision.
