Scooter Driver Literally Swallowed Up By The Earth As Massive Sinkhole Opens In Road

It may look like something out of a film but sinkholes are a real-life phenomenon. This one occurred in China in 2017.

CCTV cameras captured the massive sinkhole suddenly appearing in the road. Just moments later, the scooter driver, distracted by his phone, doesn't notice what has happened and plunges headfirst into the hole. Miraculously, despite the scary-looking fall, the scooter driver sustained only minor injuries.

Social media users on Chinese website Weibo had little sympathy for him, commenting 'What the heck was he thinking playing with his phone while riding?'

We imagine he's probably learnt his lesson...
