No more than 10 minutes at a time
Though we might all enjoy scrolling through our feed endlessly while using the toilet, the health expert urges people not to spend more than 10 minutes at a time. He explains that if you want to avoid needing haemorrhoid surgery in the future, being quick and efficient while taking a poop is your best bet. In the video, he gives two top tips to ensure you are passing your bowel movements in the healthiest way possible:

He then continues on to say that:
Try not to spend on average more than ten minutes on the toilet. Gravity is not your friend. The longer you spend on the toilet the longer the blood can pool in these rectal veins causing haemorrhoids.More under this adMore under this ad
No less than 30g of fibre daily
Finally, the doctor also suggests that you should load up on fibres to make sure your pooping process goes as smoothly and pain-free as possible. According to the NHS, most people do not eat a sufficient amount of daily fibre which in the end results in health complications. They recommend that we should be consuming no less than 30g a day. Dr Rajan backs up this claim by saying that:
Unless you have a specific medical condition you should be aiming for 20 to 30g of fibre a day. So you don't always have to cut the crusts off your bread and keep the skin on your fruit and veg.More under this ad
