Coronavirus rates are continuing to soar across the UK. The latest data per 100,000 people shows areas with the highest rates of infection and 13 of them have yet to be moved to tier three.

The latest data from the rolling rates of infection across each local authority in the UK has shown some shocking results. New statistics from the last week ending on October 23rd, show that there are 13 regions of the UK in tiers one and two that have seen coronavirus rates soar. Talks are now taking place in many of the areas in order to move them up to tier three.

The data shows rates of infection expressed per 100,000 people and reveals that areas such as Bradford, Stockton-on-Tees, Charnwood and Loughborough have all seen an alarming increase in COVID-19.

In the last week, Bradford has seen a further 2,682 new cases of the virus, taking them from 374.8 cases per 100,000 people to 496.9. The West Yorkshire town is currently undergoing talks with the government in order to move the area up to tier three. However, no further announcements have been made on the situation.

Stockton-on-Tees has also fallen victim to the pandemic after the County Durham town went from 360.8 cases per 100,000 to 444.4 in the last seven days ending on the 23rd of October.

The North Leicestershire towns of Charnwood and Loughborough have also seen some worrying increases in their ‘R rates’ going from 284.1 to 437.4 per 100,000 after recording 813 new cases.

The other 10 areas with soaring cases that are yet to move into tier three include Calderdale, Wakefield, Leeds, Kirklees, Middlesbrough, South Staffordshire, Gateshead, North East Derbyshire, North East Lincolnshire and Bristol.

The data for the most recent four days has been marked as incomplete and has therefore not been included in the figures.

So far, Blackburn with Darwen continues to have the highest rate of infection at 785.6 cases out of 100,000 people after registering 1,176 new cases over the last week.

Rosendale and Oldham are coming in second and third with rates of infection now at 675.7 and 655.0 respectively.

However, Nottingham, Liverpool, Newcastle and Exeter have been lucky enough to see a slow but steady fall in coronavirus cases. Mostly thanks to their tier-three conditions.
