Whether it's for a bargain lunch or a cheap start to a night out, you can't beat a Spoons. But it looks like the beloved pub chain is facing some difficulties - as they've just announced that they're putting sixteen of their branches up for auction.

Wetherspoons are blaming their declining profits on the higher wages they're now paying their staff but some suggest they might have suffered since axing many beloved drinks from their menu because they're European. Jagermeister, Hennessy and Courvoisier have all been off the menu at Spoons since last year thanks to founder Tim Martin's vigorous support for Brexit.
More under this adMore under this adThe pubs - which include branches in Hertfordshire, Wales and Yorkshire - will continue trading as normal until they are sold, at which time they would likely be rebranded by the new owners - meaning a different name, menu and prices.
This news follows a nationwide decline in the UK as the number of pubs has dramatically declined in the last ten years. In 2008 there were approximately 50,000 pubs in the UK, whilst just 39,000 remained last December.
