Doing 1000 crunches a day isn’t enough to get a six pack. Running not only burns loads of calories, but it also targets your stomach muscles.

Who said you only had to work on your abs to get a six-pack? This does strengthen the stomach muscles, but you need to have very little fat on your body to see results. And as many people know, you can’t just focus on weight loss.

Go for a run

So what’s better than going for a run in the morning? Or in the evening, given the summery weather at the moment? Running will burn a load of calories and help you tone up, but this is only if you have a balanced diet.

The added bonus is that without knowing it, running targets your abs. They’re actually helping support your head, shoulders and pelvis, without which the top of your body would be totally out of joint (an exaggeration, but you get the point).

Increase your gains

Running helps muscle growth, and so bulks up your outer muscles but not your core ones. Just make sure to work on them separately so you don’t get back or hip pain.

Ultimately, the best way to get defined abs with this method is to run on windy or uneven ground. Don’t forget that it takes at least 45 minutes of running to see results unless you train in short intervals.
