The new report on the World Economic Forum that was published in 2018 won’t be good news for everyone. And for good reason. It has recently come out that by 2025, robots will be occupying 52% of company jobs, in comparison to ‘just’ 29% today. This study goes further and even says that in 2022, 75 million jobs could disappear in certain areas such as in accounting, secretarial positions, on the assembly line or even in the postal services.

Bad news for employment?
Not really, to tell the truth. In fact, researchers say that ‘the robot revolution will create 58 million net new jobs in the next five years.’ These new jobs will mostly be created in new technology (artificial intelligence, data, digital technology and computer science).

The world is going through a workplace revolution that will bring a seismic shift’ in the years to come.
The report also says that ‘nearly 50% of all companies expect their full-time workforce to shrink by 2022 as a result of automatism.’ But don’t panic, ‘almost 40% expect to extend their workforce generally and more than a quarter expect automation to create new roles in their enterprise.’ So robots aren’t going to take over the planet just yet.
